News story

I was reading the paper yesterday when I came across a crazy article. If you guys are local then you know the story that I am talking. An adoptive mother was just on trial for murdering her adopted son. Horrible story. My heart breaks for all of the children. The mother was just sentenced to life in prison last week, I believe.

When I came across this article, I was floored. The story I knew but the players involved, I did not. The article is here:

And yes, that is one of our agencies! I did a double take trying to find our social worker's name but no, it wasn't her.

Here's another article dealing specifically about the agency. Apparently, the biological grandparents are suing the agency. What a tragedy.

Just so, so sad.

I continue to be disturbed and infuriated about this story- I just don't understand 1)who treats children in this manner and 2)how the state can ignore it for so long. The social worker should be tried for her part in the death of this poor boy. It's a shame that the agency that has assisted to complete successful placements of children in loving homes- you guys for example- is involved. The whole thing is so sad. God bless all the children in need of homes out there.

This is infuriating! It shouldn't have happened, I really don't understand how a family like this was able to adopt in the first place. How was this little boy place there when after his first visit he was already bruised, I don't care if he really "fell out of the bunk bed"???
The social worker should also be in prison, "they didn't tell her they were beating their children": Heeeeelloooo lady!
I wish I could take care of all the abused children, it makes me so sad and the worse about this story is that they were loved and happy with their aunt and uncle!
